Slide-On Camper Weight Calculator

Can Your Ute Carry a Slide-On?

Choose your ute, add your real-world load and compare Beyond RV slide-ons. Useful results appear as soon as there is enough information.

Quick estimate

Start with your vehicle

Choose a listed ute for an immediate payload estimate. Open the detailed sections only when you need to change a figure or make the estimate more accurate.

1 Your vehicle

Selecting the exact variant fills its published GVM and kerb weight. You can review or replace those figures below.

Not sure which variant? Match the year, cab, body, drivetrain and engine shown on your vehicle documents.
Use a weighbridge weight or enter my vehicle manually
Find this on the compliance plate or manufacturer specification.
An upgrade raises the GVM above the figure on the plate. If you have had one, enter the upgraded GVM above.
A current weighbridge figure is best. Do not add anything below that was already on the scales.
2 Your camper and tray

Enter the usable length and width of your tray. We will show the closest standard camper automatically; weight then refines the payload check.

Tell us this first. A slide-on mounts on a flat tray, and the tray decides which model suits.
Measure the flat usable area, not the vehicle's overall length.
Measure the narrowest flat usable width between anything that limits the camper.
Use the confirmed product specification. Beyond RV will verify it before build.
Add water, gear, options and camper dimensions
3 People and extra vehicle load

Only add weight that is not already included in your current vehicle weight. Blank additions count as 0 kg.

Add accessories, luggage and vehicle gear
For example a bull bar, winch, canopy, drawers, racks or battery.
Final safety confirmations

These do not block preliminary figures. Confirm them before relying on a final result.

This tool provides an estimate only. Final suitability depends on your exact vehicle variant, compliance plate, manufacturer specifications, towbar rating, axle limits, tyre ratings, accessories, real loaded weights and certified weighbridge results. Beyond RV weighs your vehicle at the factory before build, and those figures decide the final answer.

How this slide-on camper calculator works

The calculator starts with your vehicle GVM, subtracts the current vehicle weight, then allows for passengers, accessories, the camper dry weight and the loaded camper weight. It also flags tray dimensions because a ute can have enough payload but still be physically unsuitable.

This is a GVM and fit estimate only. Final suitability also depends on axle ratings, tyre ratings, tray rating, mounting method, load distribution, suspension setup and certified weighbridge results.

Worked example

A ute with 3350kg GVM and a 2400kg current weighbridge weight has 950kg before it reaches GVM. If passengers, accessories and loaded camper weight add 1130kg, the vehicle is estimated at 3530kg loaded. That is 180kg over GVM, so the result is red.

Slide-on camper FAQ

What is available payload?

Available payload is the amount of weight left before your vehicle reaches GVM after you allow for its current weight, passengers, accessories, fuel, water, tools and gear.

Does tray size matter as much as payload?

Yes. A slide-on camper mounts on a flat tray, so it must suit that tray as well as the manufacturer ratings and loaded weight limits. A factory tub cannot carry one: a tray has to be fitted first, and its length then decides which model suits. Tray length, tray width, centre of gravity and rear overhang all matter.

Should I use tare weight or weighbridge weight?

Use a current weighbridge weight whenever possible. Tare figures often do not include accessories, tray changes, bull bars, winches, canopies or real touring gear.
